Game piece swap

A while back I participated in a swap on Flickr. It was me and four lovely ladies from the US and lucky for me all of them were willing to ship abroad.
My contribution to the swap can be seen here
I definitely feel that I drew the longest straw in this swap. Just look what I got back… 3 fantastic pendants!

Please visite these lovely ladies here:

Angel swap

About a month ago I came across a swap on Flickr. The other participants were from the US, but lucky for me they allowed me to join. The challenge was to make a charm or a pendant using a game piece and words.

I chose angels as my theme and made tree individual pieces by combining angel scraps, sayings, pearls and paint. All of them went in the mail yesterday, and I really hope the recipients will like them.

What I got in return you can see here.

2 new puzzle pendants

Long and busy days at work don’t leave much time for creative doings.

But I’ve managed to make 2 new puzzle pendants, and a few altered dominos that I will blog about later. If my color scheme is to compensate for the lack of summer is to be unsaid, but both enden up in sugar sweet pink and turquoise.

They are both for sale in my Norwegian Epla shop og Danish Amio shop.

Repurposed china

It’s been quiet on my blog for a while, but fortunately that doesn’t mean that there has been a creative drought as well. Some new pendants, both dominos and puzzles have seen the light of day.
Some can be found in my Epla store and some were sold before they got there.

Otherwise, I came across this blog a while ago.
It has unfortunately not been updated the last year, but the plate silhouettes it featured was absolutely amazing. Since I've had a new Dremmel lying around since Christmas I decided that porcelain plate figurines would be the perfect project for inaugurating it. Nothing as advanced as the portraits of course, but a little bird or maybe a butterfly.

It turned out to be a time consuming project because the porcelain gets very heated so it is necessary to stop quite often to let it cool down. I must also find a more practical way to cut because it was impossible to get to the corners without cutting into the actual figure.

Note to self; this is an outdoor project for a sunny day.  It generated a lot of dust so my living room looked like it had been covered with snow. Also I need to get myself some safety goggles because the occasional larger piece of china decided to jump out and I don’t think I would like them in my eyes.

New pendants for my shop

Some beautiful Easter days are sadly over but they the lovely sunshine gave new life to my creativity. It resulted in a few new domino pendants and some new fabric bowls that I will blog about later, but what I’m most excited about are my new puzzle pendants. The pieces are made from veneer not cardboard and the decorating technique is the same as with the dominos, but I think their shape gives them an interesting look. They will find their way to my Epla shop within the next few days, and have an introduction price of a 150 nok (but will eventually cost the same as my dominos.)

Pimp my puzzle...

I like paper, and for the last 12 years it’s been the main component of my work. It started as an absolute necessity but developed into a passion. I called my first projects “paper mosaics” (Can be seen here and here) But eventually it became too time consuming, and the projects were longer and longer apart. But still I needed something to do, and when I stumbled on a picture of a collage on top of a puzzle I knew it would be the perfect project for me.

But if I had known then what I know now I would probably never have started because it took me exactly 8 months to finish. Why… because some projects are doomed to end up as unfinished whatever in the back of a closet. But I live in a very small house so not finishing isn’t an option. That’s why all the unfinished pieces have been staring at me from my working desk until the next collage revealed itself. (I don’t have a plan when I make pictures; they just appear while I sit at my desk)

But all is good that ends well… because it was during one of these “dry” periods that I decided that dominoes would be a good idea :)
